H.R. 1643 Amendment for Every Registrable Voter (SAFER) Act

Representative: Thomas Massie (Kentucky)

This bill would lower the Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) age from 21 back down 18.

This directly goes against the law that was passed after the Parkland Shooting in Florida in 2018. This betrays the families of the people injured or killed in mass shootings every year.

H.R. 22 SAVE Act

Representative: Chip Roy (Texas)

Passed the House going to the senate.

This bill is meant to safeguard the American Voter Eligibility but in practice could disenfranchise millions of voters. This bill requires voter to have a passport and a birth certificate (with a name that matches their birth certificate) to vote. This bill eliminates mail in voting as well as online registration to vote. This requires voters to go into local polling places and register and vote.

This limits the voting ability for people living in low-income areas as well as people living in rural areas with limited access to transportation.

U.S. SB5 “Laken Riley Act”

Representative: Katie Boyd Britt (Alabama)

Passed into Law

This bill gave homeland security the ability to detain non-US nationals who have committed crimes, such as burglary, theft, larceny and shopping lifting.

This bill in practice has led to profiling by ICE agents, and now they have deported and detained people based on how they look and how they exercised their freedom of speech. This policy in practice has limited people’s right to do process. Which violates the 5th and 14th amendment.

Listen and follow the cases of college students being detained by ICE like Mahmoud Kahalil, who was detained without any criminal charges, and he is now in a detention center.

As well as follow the case of Abrego Garcia who is a legal citizen who was deported to an El Salvadoran Prison.
