Reading for me has always been a way to learn and experience different worlds, cultures, and life experiences. I think that reading and education is something that should be shared and spread to populations that might not have as much access to these resources.
If you follow the news states are starting to ban books in school that people do not agree with. This is limiting the access students have to learning about subjects they would not get exposed to otherwise. This is very damaging to students that are low-income or marginalized in any way. Sometimes media like books, movies, and TV show are the only representation of themselves or their family.
Banning books and educational topics is a slippery slope because this is how government or people in power try to regulate information and knowledge because knowledge is power and can open up avenues someone might not expect.
